Job Description

My client, an established catalogue retail company, is looking for a passionate and intuitive Chief Sales Officer to optimize a sales force of 36,000 as well as build and lead a large inhouse team in order to fulfil the Company’s purpose of changing people’s lives for the best.

 

Duties:

  • Responsible for performance, growth and development of the Independent Sales Force
  • Developing and delivering strategies to optimize Sales Force performance
  • Anticipating business needs, identifying strategies to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate business risks
  • Developing goals, KPIs and objectives and executing against the Company’s vision
  • Leading teams across multiple, complex programs, projects and organizational boundaries
  • Providing direct support and coaching to front-line managers and supervisors
  • Evaluating performance and productivity and identifying remedial action when required
  • Mapping and leading organization design efforts including defining operating models and workflows across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Leading change initiatives, including the design, development and delivery change plans
  • Leading role clarity and process improvement initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Influencing leaders and stakeholders through compelling communication and practical recommendations for action
  • Effectively prioritizing resources and ensuring speed in delivering high-impact work
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement while designing pragmatic solutions to integrate, align, and advance company priorities
  • Uses analytics and statistical skills to leverage sales force data to assess performance and improve business results
  • Creating and maintaining budgets
  • Liaison between Sales Force and support department - merchandise, marketing, logistics etc

 

Requirements:

  • Degree/Masters in Business Management, Business Administration or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years Organization Design and Development experience
  • Minimum 10 years experience in developing and translating business strategies into practical people initiatives in a medium to large organisation with some of the following characteristics:
    • High performance culture
    • Large number of team members
    • Where operational efficiency is a key metric
  • Influential leader with strong leadership skills, executive presence and business acumen
  • Good knowledge of different business functions
  • Excellent relationship-building and networking skills
  • Experience working in rural and less developed areas of South Africa would be advantageous
  • Superior communication skills, particularly verbal
  • Ability to communicate in isiZulu and isiXhosa would be advantageous
